Access and Affordability: A Student and Faculty Perspective

Forum Summary

Ann Stevens is Director of the Center for Poverty Research at UC Davis and Professor and Chair of the Department of economics. She studies low-income workers and labor markets, the incidence and effects of job loss, connections between economic shocks and health, and poverty and safety-net dynamics. In 2011, Stevens became Chair of the UC Davis Study Group on Accessibility and Affordability. A group formed in order to create a formal mechanism for evaluating suggestions on how to increase accessibility and affordability, as well as develop additional ideas, strategies, initiatives, programs, and practices that could help expand access to excellent education. Dr. Stevens will present on the findings of the Study Group related to the topics of accessibility and affordability and will be accompanied by a panel of UC Davis students.
